Creating and Managing Student Logins

Creating and Managing Student Logins

Overview

Teachers are in charge of creating and managing student logins in Mileposts. They are given the tools to make this process very simple and seamless.

The Process

Teachers are given a class level report that allows them to manage this process.

Mileposts Home -> Manage -> Manage Student Logins

This view shows all the students in the class and allows you to reset a password.

The process for creating student accounts would be as follows.

1) Select the students that you want to create accounts for (using the small checkboxes by the student name).

2) Click on the Create Login(s) button.

The system will generate a student username using the following convention. First letter of Firstname followed by Lastname. If that user already exists, it will append a sequence starting at "001" until it finds an available username. The system will also generate a random "one time use" password in clear text.

The first time that the student logs into the portal they will be required to change their password. At this point the teacher will not have access to the students password. If the student forgets their password the teacher will have to reset their password.
